WiFi on the metro bus?
Hmm.. I read about how they were trying out WiFi access on the metro bus in the PI back in early September. I was super-excited because the 48 bus that I take for about 1/2 my trip is in the first wave.
That was a month-and-a-half ago, and I’m losing interest. Why, you ask? Is it because there’s nothing to do on the Internet for my 20+ minute ride? Is it because it’s too slow?
Not at all… it’s because I’ve never once had the opportunity to use it! In the newspaper article (which, unfortunately, I don’t have the lnk to) it implied that *ALL* or even *SOME* 48 buses would be hooked up for wireless Internet. Reading the news release from King County Metro, it’s much more clear that it’s only one or maybe two buses involved in this study. And clearly they are not any of the several buses that I have caught over the course of these intervening weeks.
Oh well. Maybe one day I’ll get lucky and they’ll run one of these Internet buses such that it’s when I’m actually riding and I’ll get to weigh-in on the usability, etc.
