The Water Method Man
Martha’s doing the 50 book thing too. Even though absolutely everyone is doing it, I’m not going to give in. No way. I “read” my ~24 books a year, and that’s good enough for me.
I do have to say, I’m disappointed that so few of John Irving’s books are in audio format, so it’s keeping me from reading more of his books until I find time to sit with paper. I found Martha’s mention that she’s currently reading his “The Water Method Man” to be pretty cool though. I’m not sure what it is about that particular book — maybe just because it was one of the first John Irving books I read (after the obvious ones everyone reads). Not sure. In any case, I quite liked it and have named my various computers after characters in that book over the last 7 years or so.
Yes, I have over the years had workstations or servers named: Biggie, Trumper, Colm, Tulpen, Couth, Overturf, and Dante. I think that’s all of them. When I started doing this naming, it was very easy. But after gradually replacing computers over the years, I realized that although most of the players have “unique sounding names” suitable to computer naming… there really just aren’t that many characters to choose from in the book! Really, who wants to name their computer “Ralph”? (I did briefly consider naming one “Packer” – after Ralph Packer - but then rejected this on several levels).
Oh well, silly topic. But still fun – to me at least.
