Evan Dodds – Non-work-related blog

I just finished “reading” Sarah Vowell’s The Partly Cloudy Patriot yesterday on the way to work. I’ve built up such a deep queue of “my next listen” books at Audible.com by this point that I couldn’t even remember how it was that I ran across this one until pretty far into the book.

She was on The Daily Show a long time ago, probably even talking about this very book. In any event, she must have given an interesting interview, as I added it to my list.

It was a good read, very fun style. She has a great wit and finds some bit of dark humour in just about everything. It wasn’t a terribly long book (5 hours or so in audio), but it hit on a number of salient points: american relationship to history, nature, family…

If you enjoy light social commentary, mixed in with good story telling, you’ll undoubtedly like this one.
